After the war, he joined the newly founded Brothers in Trick cartoon studio in Prague, where he worked until 1951. In 1953, they moved together from Moravia to Slovakia, where they began their activities at the Short Film Trick Department in Bratislava. Vlastimil Herold created several notable films here - cartoons with fairy tale themes and animated advertising shorts, on the basis of which he is sometimes referred to as "the first professional of Slovak animated cinema".
