Paul Danziger
¿Quién es Paul Danziger?
In 1998, Danziger and his law partner Mike Weiss filed a federal antitrust lawsuit on behalf of Retractable Technologies against Becton Dickinson and hospital Group Purchasing Organizations (GPOs) that had conspired to block a life-saving retractable safety syringe from reaching American hospitals. The case exposed systemic corruption in the medical supply industry and ultimately settled for $100 million in 2004, leading to widespread adoption of safety needles across the United States.
After Weiss's death from a drug overdose in 1999, Danziger carried the case alone and later wrote an autobiographical screenplay about their partnership and the fight against the medical supply monopoly. He partnered with directors Adam and Mark Kassen to bring the film to the screen, personally financing the production. Puncture premiered at the 2011 Tribeca Film Festival and won the inaugural Texas Independent Film Award from the Houston Film Critics Society in January 2012.
Danziger earned his Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting with honors from the University of Texas at Austin (1988), a Master's degree in Tax Accounting (MPA) from the same institution (1989), and his Juris Doctor from Northwestern University School of Law in Chicago (1993), where he competed in the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition.
Before founding his own firm, Danziger practiced international business law at Tilleke & Gibbins in Bangkok, Thailand and Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. He co-founded Danziger & De Llano, LLP in 1999 with Rod De Llano. Today, the firm is a nationally recognized mesothelioma and asbestos litigation practice that has recovered over $2 billion for clients across the United States.
Danziger has been named a Texas Super Lawyer multiple years and is a lifetime member of Best Attorneys of America. He is a member of the State Bar of Texas and admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas.
