Jason Rosette is a creative, award-winning writer-director, filmmaker, performer and educator with over three decades of experience producing motion media in the USA and abroad. He has directed content across the USA, Central America, Mexico, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, and Myanmar, with a regional focus on ASEAN-APAC since 2005. A graduate of NYU Film, his first independently produced drama (shot and produced on 16mm in 1991), was called 'Charlie's Box'. Later, he self-launched his career in New York with the 2000 grassroots feature documentary 'BookWars', shot while working as a Manhattan sidewalk bookseller. Praised by the New York Film Critics Circle, the LA Times and other major publications, 'BookWars' won Best Documentary at the New York Underground Film Festival and entered the Museum of Modern Art's circulating collection in 2016. Returning to New Mexico, he wrote, produced, and directed the multicultural sci-fi feature 'Lost in New Mexico'. In 2005, he expanded into ASEAN-APAC, directing advocacy documentaries for NGOs like WildAid, Conservation International, and USAID's DAI. For the documentary 'Have Forest Have Life', equipment was hauled into remote areas via off-road motorcycle, and he coached indigenous participants, designing a jungle voiceover booth from local canopy materials.

Independent Asian projects include the Vietnam War drama 'Freedom Deal', rockumentary 'Vuth Learns to Rock', experimental 'Bangkok Traffic', travelogue Burma Bong, the eco-doc 'Crab Ladies'. He also works as a line producer and location manager.

In Cambodia, he and Khmer colleagues launched CamboFest, the country's first post-Khmer Rouge international film festival, alongside the Thailand based Bangkok IndieFest. From 2010 to 2011, he worked as a forensic editor and script doctor in Bangkok, including work with animation house Imagimax. From 2013 to 2014, he served at the U.S. Embassy in Yangon (Myanmar) at the American Center as an educator and youth group monitor.

Other Asian directing credits include the Gone Marshall music video Go On, Mysterious Workers atop Bokor Mountain, and children's welfare PSAs. He is developing new cross-border film projects., including the future dystopian 'Malone Two Five'.
