In spite of its varied diversity, the Harz has faced major problems in terms of its tourist development as well as ongoing migration. But what happened to the sanatoriums, hotels, manor houses, military facilities, former FDGB homes, and specialized businesses in the region that are now abandoned and forgotten as so-called Lost Places? In search of these abandoned places and the stories of the people behind them, the Lost Place documentary series goes to locations far off the beaten track of the Harz region.
