El 5 de marzo de 2010, NBC anunció que 30 Rock había renovado para una quinta temporada, que esperaban emitir entre el 2010-2011. La temporada se estrenó el jueves 23 de septiembre.
El 31 de julio de 2010 la NBC anuncio un episodio en directo, que sería grabado y emitido en directo, dos veces, en la noche del 14 de octubre de 2010. Las dos grabaciones se emitieron tanto en la costa este y oeste, para asegurar que las dos parts de EE. UU. contemplaran el episodio en directo. Grabado frente a una audiencia en directo, el episodio se estrenó a las 20:30 en EDT y PDT en NBC. Un éxito de audiencia, el episoio también tuvo críticas positivas.
